Seabass

Seabass

Seabass is a ten-year-old racehorse trained by Ted Walsh, who is a lively challenger for the 2013 Grand National.  Third in the 2012 renewal of the Aintree spectacle, the veteran will now look to build on that effort and propel to the winner's enclosure at the second attempt.

Leopardstown Handicap Chase: 2012

paddypower.com Chase (Naas): 2012

Katie Walsh produced a peach of ride on board Seabass in the 2012 Grand National, but the Irish star was just edged out of it in the closing stages as Sunnyhillboy and Neptune Collonges propelled clear in the final furlongs.

However, the ten-year-old showed that he is sure to be a leading contender for the 2013 National as he showed a real zest for the uniqueness of the Aintree course and with his superb jumping ability will be one to follow and is another top Irish challenger making the trip to Aintree.

Having won the PaddyPower.com Chase over two miles, it was unknown as to whether he would stay the four-and-a-half miles at Aintree, but it wasn't until late on that he tired, so with another year in training he should be able to see out the finish a little better.

A pleasing return over hurdles saw him finish second to Rock Critic, whilst he wasn't disgraced when finishing behind Roi Du Mee and Prince De Beauchene in the Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse, but it may be the step back up to the marathon distance that will prove the key component and connections believe the veteran will be a stronger horse this time around and he will feature prominently in the 2013 Grand National betting, as he looks to hand Katie Walsh the accolade of being the first lady rider to win the world's greatest steeplechase.
