Tidal Bay is one of the most adored horses in training and the 13-year-old continues to defy his age with some sublime displays in top quality races, but the Paul Nicholls-trained star is trying to bag the biggest achievement of his illustrious career on April 5 as he goes for glory in the Aintree Grand National.
An Arkle Challenge Trophy winner at the 2008 Cheltenham Festival, the Ditchet raider has continued to perform at the highest level with a taking victory in the 2010 Cleeve Hurdle just another notable success on his CV in his younger days.
He unseated his rider in the 2011 Grand National and will now be trying to make amends for that failure to complete, but he showed when winning the 2012 Bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown Park and the Grade One Lexus Chase in Ireland that he still oozes class on his day and he will certainly be the class act in this race.
Third in the Welsh National in December, he then went on to finish second in the Irish Hennessy Gold Cup, so if he can repeat those sort of efforts in this marathon then he has to be a primary contender for the prize and that's why he is popular with punters in the 2014 Grand National Betting and if he can produce the goods on the day then has to be an exciting challenger to go into battle with for the Nicholls team.
